Day 13

Tuesday September 14, 2010

For English this week we are working on beginning word sounds, missing letters. Morgan is doing these with ease.

Math for this week is Shape Review, she is familiar with square, circle, triangle and rectangle, but had forgotten what the triangle and rectangle were called, so we are working on them this week as well as the other shapes.

Science this week is Living and Non Living Things. She did a worksheet of a park, having to circle the things that are living, she did this with ease. She understands what living things need.

Health for this week is still Personal Hygiene as we did not do much of it last week. We started by going and buying a new toothbrush for both of the kids, battery powered action figure toothbrushes, so their interest is high on brushing their teeth every night. Along with her own face wash, Noxema, and her applying her own lip balm nightly. And we bought some "Spongebob and Dora" foam hand wash, and they understand to wash their hands before they eat, after using the restroom, and before they go to bed. This is becoming a very good routine throughout the day and at bedtime.  Along with baths/showers, they understand about keeping themselves clean and asking for help if they still need it in certain areas.

For Art/Spelling this week we are working on the "color words". Morgan knows them as long as the color is written in that color, but not when all the words are in black. So we are going back and learning our color words this week.

Along with every other week, Morgan wrote her alphabet to continue on penmanship.

And we worked on putting words in alphabetical order, but used all A words this time. She learned to see that all the first letters are the same and that you have to move onto the second letter in the word to determine their alphabetical order. I helped her by underlining the second letter in the word and wrote the alphabet at the top of the page, through the week I will have her do it without my help on her page.
